JTIM was established in Melbourne in 2004 as a Japanese and English interpreting and translating company focused on assisting Japanese and Australian businesses.
In 2008-10, JTIM was engaged in a Mazda-Ford joint development project as a full-time interpreter and coordinator of Mazda’s design studio team. In this period, several interpreters were dispatched to provide solutions beyond the usual scope of an interpreter, including HR management support. Around this period, we also started providing several interpreters and translators to the Toyota Technical Centre to support software development and program training.
In 2012, JTIM was selected as a preferred supplier by the Toyota Australia Altona plant for an engine plant upgrade. We managed necessary resources for a multi-layered, complex project, from temporary staff to long-term contracts until the plant closure in 2017. During this period, we accumulated extensive knowledge of electrical, mechanical and manufacturing engineering, quality control, health and safety, marketing and project management.
In 2019, we were engaged for an ongoing medical device development project for the Olympus Scientific Business Unit (now Evident Scientific). Our roles include interpreter, coordinator, facilitator and advisor throughout the different phases of the project. This allowed us to build significant capability in providing comprehensive support for agile development projects including regulatory applications.
We have also provided our services in the government sector including Japanese Ministries office, AUSTRADE, Japanese Consulate in Melbourne, JETRO, agencies of Victorian State Government, Osaka City, Melbourne City and other municipal governments.
Major private clients include Toyota Motor Corporation, Mazda, Asahi Holdings Australia, BMW Finance, Adecco, Programmed (Persol), Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance, NTT Australia, Olympus (Evident Scientific), NEC, Kobayashi Pharmaceutical, SLSYSTEMS, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
